Emmett Beavers, Jr. and Sylvia Clark

Emmett Beavers, Jr. and Sylvia Clark are "regulars." They hardly miss a Pops concert, having been loyal subscribers for many years now. They started attending Pops concerts as guests of common friends who happened to be subscribers; after some time they decided to subscribe themselves. Now they are a fixture at the Pops concerts and take in the occasional Masterworks concert as well.
Sylvia is originally from North Carolina; Emmett is a native to Toledo. In fact, Emmett grew up in the Old West End neighborhood and has great memories of the Toledo Museum of Art and the Peristyle. He distinctly remembers getting to see the TSO perform in the Peristyle as a youngster and fondly recalls his high school graduation ceremony (Woodward HS) in the Peristyle, too.
As Emmett and Sylvia became more acquainted with the orchestra and its programs, they soon chose to become regular donors to the Annual Fund. They recognized that it takes more than ticket sales to sustain an orchestra of this quality in Toledo. As Emmett put it, "people that have the means to support things should do so." Emmett and Sylvia related their belief that "music is one of the things that makes life better." In 2010, at the encouragement of friends, Emmett and Sylvia informed the TSO that they wanted to make a lasting gift to the orchestra, joining the ranks of the Kobacker Society. Emmett shared his perspective on the Kobacker Society: "You join Kobacker not to be a member of something; it's something you support. There's a heart-warming feeling you get from giving. You can't get that feeling anywhere else." Emmett and Sylvia would encourage all the patrons of the TSO to consider including the TSO in their estate plans. In their words:
"You can impact the future."
The Toledo Symphony is proud to count Emmett Beavers, Jr. and Sylvia Clark as members of the Kobacker Society. Their spirit of generosity will sustain the orchestra for generations to come!
Membership in the Toledo Symphony Kobacker Society preserves orchestral music for future generations, ensuring it continues to be a vital part of our community. If you have already included the Toledo Symphony in your estate plans, or wish to do so, please let us know. We would like to thank and recognize you for your support.
